NBA Free Agency: Spencer Hawes Agrees To Four-Year Deal with Clippers [VIDEO]

Free-agent center Spencer Hawes will join superstar Blake Griffin and emerging star DeAndre Jordan upfront for the LA Clippers next season after agreeing to a contract worth $23 million over four years.

The versatile center joins a title contender in the Clippers bannered by Griffin and star point guard Chris Paul, giving the team another big body to control the paint. He will immediately be the third man in the Clippers frontcourt, replacing Glenn Davis who has elected to become a free agent after coming to L.A. in the midseason.

Hawes, who has a deft-inside outside game, has missed the playoffs in five of his seven NBA seasons. He told Yahoo! Sports he passed up on the opportunity to earn more just to have a shot at a ring.

"I've had a taste of the playoffs before, but being a part of this team will be just incredible. You get to a point where you really realize what's important, and I was thinking: 'What would my 12-year-old self have done? What would he prioritize?' It was this opportunity and what they're building with the Clippers."

Hawes, who spent the past season playing for Philadelphia before he was traded to the Cavaliers in the middle of the season, averaged 13.2 points and eight rebounds. He also showed a deft touch from the outside, shooting almost 45 percent from the three-point range while playing for the Cavaliers.

He added: " The creativity that Doc allows his guys on the offensive end, how he installs things to take advantage of skill sets and the right pairings is really enticing. We will be able to do a lot of different things and create a lot of different matchups."
