Houston Astros Rumors: 10 Months of Astros' Trade Talks Leak, Revealing Giancarlo Stanton Trade Was Turned Down [VIDEO]

The Houston Astros have been the MLB’s worst franchise for a number of years now, but their latest slip up could be one for the history books. According to Deadspin's Barry Petchesky, 10 months worth of Astros’ trade discussions leaked onto the internet revealing Houston’s inner workings.

The Astros released a statement concerning the leak and they aren’t too happy with the reports surfacing. The acknowledged that some of the reports are true, but maintain that some of the information is fabricated.

“Last month, we were made aware that proprietary information held on Astros’ servers and in Astros’ applications had been illegally obtained. Upon learning of the security breach, we immediately notified MLB security who, in turn, notified the FBI. Since that time, we have been working closely with MLB security and the FBI to the determine the party, or parties, responsible. This information was illegally obtained and published, and we intend to prosecute those involved to the fullest extent.

It is unfortunate and extremely disappointing that an outside source has illegally obtained confidential information. While it does appear that some of the content released was based on trade conversations, a portion of the material was embellished or completely fabricated.”

The reports starting growing legs when some of the names (Dexter Fowler, Bud Norris) included in the trade talks were actually dealt by the Astros at some point. The biggest name on the list included a conversation between the Astros’ Jeff Luhnow and Miami Marlins general manger Dan Jennings that was about the status of Giancarlo Stanton.

The talks almost came to fruition, but fell apart in the later goings when the Astros decided that trading George Springer and Carlos Correa would too step for them. It is unknown what is the next move for the franchise, but there really isn't anything they can do now that the report has surfaced. The reports have been made public and the Astros will just ahve to deny and move on as the All-Star break approaches.
