Tonight at 8:10 p.m. ET, the Colorado Rockies (35-44) and Milwaukee Brewers (49-32) continue a four-game set with the second encounter live from Miller Park in Milwaukee. Colorado continues a seven-game road trip after dropping the opener while Milwaukee continues a seven-game homestand it is currently 2-2 on. The Brewers seek their third straight win and took the opening game of this series form the Rockies 7-4. Milwaukee has bested Colorado in all four meetings this season.
Rookie Tyler Matzek (1-2, 5.19 ERA) toes the rubber for Colorado while Milwaukee counters with Kyle Lohse, who is 9-2 with a 3.20 ERA this season.
The Rockies are hoping that their familiarity with the Brewers will help them win this game.
"We're getting to know each other pretty well," Matzek said via MLB.com. "We're going to make some adjustments, and that should help us win."
The Rockies are dealing with injuries to several key stars, but the Brewers know they're still facing a really good team.
"If you put their three guys who are hurting into the lineup, that's the best lineup in baseball for me," manager Ron Roenicke told MLB.com. "I know there are some really good lineups, and there are some good lineups in the other league, also. But with those three guys in there, for me, that's the best offense."
Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is hitting .318 (7-for-22) lifetime against Lohse and leads the entire MLB with a .352 batting average while ranking second in the NL with 18 homers. Tulowitzki also leads the majors in runs (61), on-base percentage (.477), slugging percentage (.625) and OPS (1.072).
Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is hitting .307 with 13 homers and has added 57 RBI, which ranks him second in the NL.
Milwaukee catcher Jonathan Lucroy (.328) and second baseman Scooter Gennett (.311) rank third and fifth in the NL in batting average respectively. Lucroy also ranks second in the NL with 94 hits and 26 doubles. Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez is fifth in the NL with 154 total bases.
