This is a curious matchup for Nadal as he has a 21-6 career record against Ferrer but lost the last matchup. That match happened to be on clay, a surface where Nadal never loses, so it will be interesting to see where this match goes. Nadal is always a strong contender to win the French Open and this one is no different. It would be huge of Nadal were to fall in this match and for Ferrer to advance.

No. 4 Simona Halep vs. No. 27 Svetlana Kuznetsova
Halep has truly taken advantage of the weakened field and has a legitimate chance at claiming the French open for herself. With Maria Sharapova slowing down this round, she has a chance to carry all the momentum into the semifinals. Nerves could get to Halep and hinder her game the way Sharapova almost fell in this round. Look for Kuznetsova to give Halep a little scare but nothing more than that.
