John Elway Son's Assault Charge: Elway Job in Jeopardy Over Son's Behavior? [VIDEO]

Jack Elway has placed his father in a precarious position.

John Elway's son arrested on domestic violence charge

The Denver Post released more details about the weekend arrest of the 24-year-old son of general manager John Elway on Monday, and the report casts Jack in an unsavory light. It also has put Elway's job at risk of losing credibility.

Taking information from a Denver police report, the Post reported that an alleged fight between Jack Elway and his girlfriend resulted in Jack ripping out pieces of the woman's hair.

The police report noted that Jack and his girlfriend were driving on a Denver street when they got into an argument at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Post.

Elway stopped the vehicle and pulled his girlfriend out of the vehicle by her hair. The woman lost some of her hair extensions but also lost some of her actual hair, according to the police report. She tried to get back into the vehicle, but Elway pushed her down and left the scene.

The woman suffered scrapes to both knees. The woman informed the police that Jack was staying at his father's house, and the police report said Jack Elway was removed from the home and arrested at 3:56 a.m.

Jack is due back in court on Thursday.

Neither John Elway nor the Broncos have spoken about the matter, other than the Broncos initial statement on Sunday saying, "This is a personal family matter, and the Broncos will not have any additional comment on it."

Or it was personal, until the police report made it public. Now Elway, the franchise's Hall of Fame quarterback, potentially could have an image problem that affects his ability to run the organization.

If John Elway chooses to remain quiet about his son, does he give up the right to comment about any Broncos players' legal issues? Even if he tries to use the "personal matter" card, his players might lose respect if he comments on any of their transgressions.

Against his better judgment, Elway might realize that the best way to make the situation go away for his family and his team is to talk about Jack's arrest. If he can articulate what happened and the consequences his son faces at home, he could win some friends back.

Not saying anything keeps the chapter of his son's arrest lingering longer in the news cycle.
