John Elway Family Problems: Denver Broncos GM's Son Arrested for Domestic Violence [VIDEO]

The 24-year-old son of former Denver Broncos Hall of Fame quarterback and current general manager John Elway was arrested early Saturday in Denver for a domestic violence incident.

The Denver Post reported that John Albert Elway III was booked into the Denver jail and early Saturday morning and released later in the day on a $550 bond, according to jail records.

USA TODAY Sports added that the victim reported the incident to Auraria Campus Police and that Elway III, known as Jack Elway, was taken from his him into custody. The victim also obtained a protection order.

John Elway bonded out his son, USA TODAY Sports reported. Jack Elway has a June 5 court date scheduled.

The Post reported that the alleged assault happened at Colfax Avenue and Lipan Street, according to Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.

The Broncos released a brief statement on the matter.

"This is a personal family matter, and the Broncos will not have any additional comment on it," said Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth.

The Post telephone an address listed to John Elway in Cherry Hills Village. A woman who answered the phone identified herself as his step-mother but declined to comment.

Elway's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, declined comment.

The Post added that the younger Elway is a graduate of Cherry Creek High School in 2008 and Arizona State University in 2011. He lives in Newport Beach, California, according to his Facebook page.

He played quarterback at Cherry Creek and earned All-State honors as a senior, leading to his recruitment at Arizona State.

Elway quit the team in the spring of 2009 when he was one of five quarterbacks competing for the starting job.
