NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs 2014 [PHOTO]: Boston Flying Habs Flag At City Hall, Honors Bet With Canadiens [VIDEO]

The city of Boston lived up to its word in the tiniest possible way after its beloved Bruins lost to the Montreal Canadiens in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, flying a small Habs flag atop City Hall in the wake of losing a friendly wager.

Eastern Conference Finals Preview and Prediction

Prior to the Round 2 series between the two fierce rivals, which was won by the Canadiens in a decisive Game 7 in Beantown, Boston mayor Marty Walsh and Montreal mayor Denis Coderre worked out a wager where the losing team would have the opposing team's flag wave high atop City Hall.

Western Conference Finals Preview and Prediction

The Canadiens stood tall in Game 7 with a 3-1 victory after the final buzzer sounded at the TD Garden in Boston on May 14, and now the Bruins and city of Boston have finally honored their word:

The tiny flag is anchored between the American flag and the Massachusetts state flag, and as per the agreement, the flag will remain there for the next week.

The Bruins were hoping to get to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight season and third time in the last four years, but the team blew a 3-2 series lead, losing back-to-back games to get eliminated.

The Canadiens marched on to the Eastern Conference Finals and a meeting with the New York Rangers, but the Habs currently trail that series 2-0, dropping the opening two games in Montreal at the Bell Centre and losing goaltender and team MVP Carey Price for the series to an undisclosed injury in Game 1.

Coderre, riding high off of the Round 2 win over Boston, made yet another wager -- this time with New York mayor Bill de Blasio -- over the outcome of the Eastern Conference Finals. Not only will the losing city have the opposing team's flag fly at City Hall, but they will also have to admit the other city's bagels are superior.

Coderre may be feeling happy with the knowledge that his city's team flag is flying in Boston, but with two more losses the Montreal mayor may soon have to fly a flag of his own in his City Hall, the flag of the New York Rangers.
