So Daniel Snyder thinks it's perfectly OK to use the term "Washington Redskins," but is not allowing the use of the term "Redskins Great." Perhaps because people might consider the latter term to be an oxymoron.
The Washington Post reported Friday that the Redskins threatened to sue former Washington Redskins not-great linebacker LaVar Arrington over a promotional flyer for his summer football camp.
At issue is the use of the term "Redskins great" in referring to Arrington.
According to CBSSports.com, Arrington's promotional company, Xtreme Procision, produced a flyer featuring an image of Arrington in a Redskins uniform and an invitation to kids to "Register for a camp in a city near you." The message is underscored with, "Hosted by Redskins Great LaVar Arrington."

The Post, however, reported that the Redskins themselves gave Arrington the title of Redskins great in the summer of 2012 on the team's website.
"The Washington Redskins announced today the 10 members of the organization selected to join the 70 Greatest Redskins named in 2002 and complete the 80 Greatest Redskins of All-Time," the website stated, the list including Arrington, a three-time Pro Bowler during his six years in Washington after being selected with the seventh pick overall in the 2000 NFL Draft.
CBSSports.com reported that Arrington explained the situation on his own radio show on 106.7 The Fan in Washington - he called in because he was in New York for the NFL Draft.
"Did you get a cease and desist from the Washington Redskins?" Chad Dukes asked.
"I did. I did," Arrington said. "Here's the funny thing. I don't handle those things. It's a company. I respect it. I mean, it's fine. I just thought it was funny, that's all.
"I got a call from one of my people that said a lawyer called and said they want a cease and desist on the flyer that went out, that had 'Redskins great' on it, and had a picture of me with Redskins colors on it - my Redskins uniform - that's all. I just made light of it. I'm taking jabs at 'em, but it's all in good fun."
"It's just a picture of you that I've seen a hundred times before; are you at all surprised that they're that sensitive about the whole thing?" Dukes asked.
"They won three games last year, man," Arrington said. "It's not like saying 'Redskins great' is going to sell out my camp. I mean, if I'm using 'Redskins great,' I mean, we didn't win very many games when I was there, so I just thought I was doing them a favor. I thought we were in it together, Chad."
Arrington also sent out a series of tweets about his feelings on the subject.

According to the Post, a Redskins spokesman had no comment on the letter sent to Arrington.
