No.2 Gonzaga Outlasts BYU, 70-65

No.2 Gonzaga avoided being the last top-5 team to be upset this week with a 70-65 win over BYU on Thursday. The Bulldogs were led by a strong performance from star player, Kelly Olynyk.

Olynyk scored a game-high 19 points, despite a physical matchup against converted BYU football player, Brandon Kaufusi. The Zags were also aided by a strong performance from Gary Bell Jr. who scored 15 points, 12 coming off of four three pointers.

With Thurday's win, Gonzaga clinches their 10th outright West Coast Conference title. Gonzaga currently owns a perfect 15-0 record in conference play.

Gonzaga will complete their regular season with a home matchup against Portland (11-19, 4-11 WCC) to end conference play. The Bulldogs haven't lost a game since their 64-63 loss to then-No.13 Butler on January 19th, the team's final non-conference matchup this season. Gonzaga's only other loss came against then-No. 8 Illinois, 85-74, in December.
