The Phoenix Suns' disastrous 2023-24 season concluded with a first-round sweep from the Minnesota Timberwolves following a blockbuster offseason where they acquired three-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal.

The Suns' on-court issues were felt deeply, with star Kevin Durant, one of the greatest scorers of all time, reportedly unhappy with his role within the team's offensive schemes, according to a report by Shams Charania and Doug Haller of The Athletic.

Throughout the season, the 35-year-old reportedly never felt at ease with his role in the team's offense alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.

Durant had concerns with the offensive schemes, expressing dissatisfaction with being frequently stationed in the corner.

He also thought the plays they ran didn't leverage his strengths as the offense heavily relied on pick-and-rolls, per the report.

Frank Vogel lost the respect of the locker room

Meanwhile, head coach Frank Vogel began to lose the locker room's respect during the latter part of the regular season.

In an early April regular season game against the Los Angeles Clippers, when the Suns trailed 35-4 at one point, the 50-year-old tactician yelled so loudly that his voice could be heard outside the locker room.

However, the players weren't moved and perceived the outburst as forced and out of character. Vogel's frustrations left players rolling their eyes, and one Suns player even struggled to contain his laughter.
